Over the past five years, KeAgriLab has built a strong and diverse team of experts across key areas of laboratory science and analytical services. As the laboratory has grown, it has brought together complementary expertise spanning phenotypic to molecular microbiology, chemistry, laboratory operations, and research support. The team reflects a commitment to inclusivity and multidisciplinary collaboration, enabling delivery of high-quality analytical services and research support.
Ms Jacinta Muchiri (Founding Director and Head of Analytical Services)
Ms Muchiri has over 30 years of experience in laboratory analysis, covering regulatory compliance testing, quality control, research and innovation, process monitoring, and advanced analytical characterization. Her expertise spans a wide range of microbiological and chemical analyses supporting both routine testing and complex research projects.
She built an extensive career at the University of Nairobi’s Department of Food Science, Nutrition and Technology, where she progressed from laboratory technician to Chief Technologist before her recent retirement. In this role, she led laboratory operations, supported teaching and research activities, and ensured high standards of analytical quality and compliance.
Ms Muchiri has contributed to numerous projects, ranging from student research to large, externally funded programmes, including several EU Horizon projects. Her experience combines hands-on technical expertise with strong laboratory management and quality assurance capabilities.
